Pumpkin Pie vs. Sweet Potato Pie

I wasn’t always a pie person until recently and I must say I am a fan of both pies. It was estimated in 2009 that Americans were more likely to prefer pumpkin pie over sweet potato. Pumpkin pie was second in place with favorite foods for thanksgiving with sweet potato pie coming in at number fifteen. I hate having to choose but I agree with most American’s, pumpkin pie has a balance of sweetness and spices which makes it hard to resist. However, lets not forget that the smell of pumpkin pie makes us yearn of family gathering and for men it has even be said to be a natural aphrodisiac!

Alright, lets get straight to today’s DIY- Thanksgiving decor & Pumpkin recipes! Thanksgiving is my favorite holidays because of all the food and the closeness of my family of course. For this thanksgiving why not take the time to personalize your home decor instead of having to purchase items on an already tight budget. Lets make our thanksgiving home decor beautiful, dramatic, homey and inexpensive with these simple solutions.

1. Decorative Pumpkins

The first pumpkin is dotted with paint for a simple decoration. The second and last image are what I found on Google images. For image 2, all what is needed is a stencil with a picture and thanksgiving phrases to achieve the same look. The last image is an all white painted pumpkin securely nestled by small berry twigs which you can purchase at any art and craft store.

2. Leaves for Decor

Above are easy ways to incorporate the color of fall into your home. The leaves brings a rustic and enchanted forest feel as it decorated in your home. The first image is very self explanatory as all it takes is a tall vase and a bunch of leaves you gathered outside your home. The second images can be a fun family project where you have the kids place the leaves in a circle to make a wall art of a tree in your living room. Use white construction paper as the wall instead of using your wall if afraid of tape. Lastly, you can use leaves as banners to decorate your home from mirrors to doors to ceilings and over cupboards for a very rich colorful fall look in the home.
