NMNJ Artist of the Week: Marlon D

Hailing from Oxnard, Ca, Marlon D has been a staple in the underground hip hop scene since 2006, debuting of his first solo album Shadows Of My Reflection. He has followed the release with mixtapes and albums every year through his own imprint MD Entertainment. He has served as an opening act for numerous legends such as Guru from Gangstarr, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock, Slum Village, Dilated Peoples, Tha Alkoholiks, numerous artists from Stonesthrow Records and many more. He has been involved in the Filipino-American community all over Southern California devoting his time to organize benefit shows to raise funds for school programs, and food drives for the natural disasters that has affected the Phillippines for the past decade.

Marlon D had the chance to work with artists from Stonesthrow Records such as Roc C and DJ Romes for his 5th solo release called The Resume’ which also featured Roscoe Umali and Skyzoo. On Feb 15, 2015, Marlon D released his 8th official solo album called The Deductible on mcmarlond.bandcamp.com . He has shot two videos for the first two singles “Trumpets” and “This Round’s On Me” . Trumpets will be released on Youtube on March 20. The album will also be available on all digital stores including iTunes, Beats Music, Spotify, and Xbox Music in Mid-March 2015

He is currently preparing to embark in his first U.S. national tour called “The Deductible Tour” touching cities such as Seattle, New York, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Arizona, and other spot dates all over Southern California starting in April 2015-August 2015.
