Happy 1 Year Anniversary

Reflection

Welcome to a brand new edition of Social Media Saturday! Since my blog post turns a year old this month, I thought I would share a reflection blog post. I will be reflecting on my experience about Social Media Saturday and what you can expect for the rest of this year.

My Background

For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Ayasha Roberson. I’ve run a global entertainment marketing firm called Urban SociaLites for the past 6 years. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, now Stockton University. In addition, I earned a Master’s Degree in Administrative Science with certificate Organizational Development in 2012.

Starting My Blog

I created my blog in order to build relationships with bloggers and to share my insight and experience about leadership. However, I want to make my blog relatable to people who may not be in the corporate sector or business fields, so I have integrated the artist community, non- profits, and other industries into my blog postings. I believe that most of my blog posts can apply to all areas of people’s lives. It doesn’t matter if you are an executive or you work as a maid, the ultimate goal is to make your brand shine above the rest. I know that most people in lower level positions don’t look at themselves as a brand, but we all have a brand, whatever role we play in life.

I believe the first thing you have to do is to change the way you see yourself. If you see yourself just as another this or that, that’s the way you will ultimately see yourself.  Your behavior is reflective of the way you think of yourself. Positive thoughts produce positive attitude and behaviors.

The Benefits of Social Media Saturday

Creating Social Media Saturday Blog has been more than just another item on my laundry list of things to do. It has improved my writing skills, and strengthened my time management skills as I schedule a date and time for a new post to debut each month. And it has increased my engagement and following on social media.

Change Is Good

I’ve made a number of changes to my blog which I am very happy to share with you. I hired Mary Ellen Landolfi as a consultant for the USL brand in December. She has been editing all our blog posts for Social Media Saturday, as well as Jerz Life Fashion, The Crawford Chronicles, and 1 On 1 IN 10. Mary Ellen’s background is in writing and business journalism; she is one of the best editors in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area. As your business starts to grow, you will need to add a professional editor to your team. Most people don’t see the value in a hiring an editor, but believe me it is one of the best investments that you can make especially if your company has a lot of content. Plus, Mary Ellen is professional and super reliable.  Again, if you are looking for a copywriter, editor, or content creator for your brand make sure you contact Mary Ellen by going to her website http://www.wordspiralmedia.com/

What to Expect

Furthermore, my blog post drops 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month at 11 am ET. Next month I will have my first guest blogger, Derrick Carpenter of Something To Talk About marketing firm. I met Derrick and his wife 3 months ago at the Jersey City Business Referral Group. Since then we have built a good business relationship within a short period of time and I welcome him with open arms as our first guest blogger on Social Media Saturday for the month of September. I am looking forward to Derrick’s Blog Post premiering on Saturday, September 17th at 11am ET. Look for the hashtag #GuestBloggerDerrickSMS
