… where fashion meets real life.

Hey loves,

Seasons greetings!  Today I am featuring two simple yet stylish looks that are great for this time of year.

The first is an outfit that I actually wore on a night out to Delta’s in New Brunswick last year.  I apologize for not having more pictures to show the details, however, I will break it down for you! I had picked up this beaded burnt orange tunic at Free People on clearance.  I was wearing leather leggings that I found at New York & Company for under $10.  My black, go-to Aldo booties were perfect for the occasion… and since I anticipated dancing and went without sleeves, I felt that my amazingly soft, faux fur forever scarf from Boscov’s was a practical and beautiful compliment to the outfit.  The last couple years I’ve noticed that the fashion world has been very free with mixing patterns, so I went ahead and rocked my Nine West (via TJ Maxx) clutch.

* please note: part of what made this outfit special was the blending of texture and the unique design of the tunic.  Sometimes all you need is that one special piece and that one particular article will uplift your whole look.

My second look is a Michael Kors shirt dress that I had a nice deal on (shhh, I had the hook-up)… This dress has a lot of character standing alone, but I wanted to personalize it a little bit.  I wore it with some fun stockings that I picked up from Kohls (love their stockings!)… to me they are a classy take on fish net.  I threw on a funky earring that my fabulous sister in law blessed me with, my comfortable Ralph Lauren booties that I picked up from Macy’s during their friends and family sale, and ran out to church.  I may wear this dress again styled a little differently for Christmas or Christmas Eve.  It will also be a great professional look for work with some opaque tights and a blazer.  I love the fact that it’s such a versatile dress!

My key points in this post:

– Blend textures
– Don’t be afraid to mix patterns
– Personalize
– Invest in some “special” wardrobe items
– Take advantage of versatile pieces

… I pray that you all have a beautiful holiday… whatever you celebrate, be blessed.  Keep your heads up during this time and try not to be overwhelmed with your responsibilities and obligations.  Roll with life, enjoy the little things… rejoice in whatever trials you encounter and embrace them.  Have faith and know that you have a greater purpose and any trials and challenges you experience will bring you to higher levels if you keep the proper attitude and perspective.  Like Mary did when she was told by the angel Gabriel that she would have a child by the Holy Spirit before she was even married, believe in God’s grace and favor upon your life, know that He loves you and trust Him.  His thoughts and ways are higher than ours, and we may not understand what He is doing and why, but have faith and have peace.  You are precious, you are loved, you are blessed, and better days are yet to come.

“Joy to the world, The Lord has come… Let earth receive her King.”

Oh yes, I got that real Christmas spirit right about now!

Thank you for reading.

Peace and Blessings,

Lady K
