Choices Leading to Success or Otherwise in Life and Fashion JackyO November 11, 2013 Jerz's Life, Network About Life… Financial limitations in life demand strategy, evaluation of one’s values, resourcefulness & creativity. Strategies regarding your personal path to success (however you define success) as well as strategies on how to make the most out of life as you work towards your vision should be constantly evolving and consistently implemented. As I move through this life, every so often I find it necessary to stop and think about what I am putting my time and money into and how I can make the most of my gifts, talents & resources to positively impact my own life as well as the lives of others. When you look at your life, what do you see, progress or stagnation? What are you putting your time and money into on a regular basis? Time and money are arguably your two most valuable resources and what you choose to do with them reveals where your heart is and how you are directing your life. What do you value? How do you define success? Based on how you are using your time and money, where do you see yourself in the next five years? Think about these things if you haven’t lately… About Fashion… One of my goals in life is to age like fine wine, so I’ll regularly invest in quality food, skin care products, vitamins, etc… Whereas, when it comes to fashion, I will not pay full retail price and I rarely will go shopping at all… (I know myself, and I would rather not put myself in the situation that could be so potentially dangerous for my pockets!) However, when I do shop, I shop with purpose. I may be grabbing an item for an event or I may be shopping a sale or discount store and completely “going in”… when I encounter a “staple” or an interesting item that I think I can use to enhance my wardrobe, I consider the price versus the quality and versatility. I think about how much wear I can get out of it. I also consider, of course, whether or not the item works for me personally. Is it a flattering cut? How’s the fit? Does the color complement me? Can I wear it to work? Can I wear it out or out and about during the weekend? I need to consider these things when shopping, as it is necessary to make the most out of every dollar I work for. Every item I spend money on is an investment and I need it to work for me. Shopping should really be calculated and strategic no matter what tax bracket you’re in. I noticed that some people go shopping “willy-nilly” style and pick up whatever they want because they can, but yet, they don’t know how to put an outfit together. I embrace the fact that my financial limitations are helping me to grow in the areas of creativity, resourcefulness, as well as gratitude. These principles are precious and are only gained by seeing the beauty and opportunity in ones own individual struggle. Time is precious and it is something you can never get back. Money is a powerful resource as well. Both our time and money need to be used wisely as these are resources which can truly make or break us. In life we are constantly making choices… choices that are either bring us closer to, or farther from, our dreams… choices that are bringing us closer to success or failure… choices that are either positively or negatively effecting ourselves and the people within our sphere of influence.
